In the last edition of HHL news CLIC about reported the kick-off of our Meta Project “Servprof”.  We received overwhelming response to the topic of “Service Quality through Professional Work” and were particularly excited about the award for “Project of the Month” from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.  Each month new and innovative advanced projects will be introduced and thus the website offers a good platform for the presentation and exchange of outstanding ideas.

Dr. Marcus Koelling, Claudia Lehmann and Klaus Zuehlke-Robinet (DLR) in Stuttgart

Within the framework of the META Project “Learning and Living Service Professionalism- ServProf", which is coordinated by the Center for Leading Innovation and Cooperation, meetings of the two focus groups were taking place in October.

Ms. Angelika Poessl represented the project at the GTW Convention on the 5th of October 2009, meeting with the focus group “Occupations and Professionalization” in Bremen. The meeting was held for the second time and the focus groups presented individual projects, their course of action, as well as results thus far.  A majority of the lecture is available on the project website at www.servprof.de.

Additionally, Ms. Claudia Lehmann and Dr. Marcus Koelling participated in the first meeting held by the focus group “Value assessment and taking pride in one's work” on the 29th of October, 2009 in Stuttgart.  At the meeting, the introduction of the META Project and particularly the new released platform were very popular among the individual joint project partners. 

New ServProf Design

In the course of the META Project "ServProf -Learning and Living in Service Professionalism” a new online platform was launched in early October 2009.  At the www.servprof.de domain, anyone interested can gain a deeper insight into the project’s work and the overall scope of the project.  The core of the project work and the new communication platform are the focus groups “Occupational and Professionalization” and “Value assessment and taking pride in one's work” with all their sub-planning (in total 58 sub projects).  The homepage presents the two main focus group themes as the central entry point and afterwards the user is forwarded to the individual project overviews with detailed information about the research focus points, the coordinated institutes, as well as reference people. The platform offers the possibility for each sub project's integrated website news to be shown.  To achieve this, ServProf uses RSS Feed technology, giving the user an overview of the latest activities from the 58 sub projects bundled in one central area.  Furthermore, the platform gives each visitor the ability to cluster each sub project according to different categories such as, "branch", "research method" and "research questions".  This classification makes it possible for each user to get a quick overview about the relevant sub projects (i.e. in the elderly care sector).

Servprof.de is constantly being further developed.  An internal network is in the works for the entire group's project participants to gain central control of the creation and management of documents.  Additionally, the ability to initiate and coordinate the workshops and conventions will be made possible.

Dr. Marcus Koelling, Angelika Poessl, Claudia Lehmann and Stefan Thallmaier at the QUIS11 in Wolfsburg

At the Quis 11 Conference that took place from June 11-14, 2009, HHL was energetically represented by Dr. Marcus Koelling, Claudia Lehmann, Angelika Poessl, Jessica Scheler and Stefan Thallmaier.  Two years after the Quis 10 Conference was assigned in Orlando, this year's conference was organized by the Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt in close cooperation with Volkswagen After Sales in Wolfsburg.  The lecture given by Dr. Marcus Koelling and Ms. Jessica Scheler about the topic of "Towards Ambidextrous Service Innovators: Lessons Learned From The German Airport Industry" was received with great interest from the panel audience.  Additionally, The Center for Leading Innovation and Cooperation (CLIC) team had the chance to introduce the "Travel Guide: Services Made In Germany" (which has already been mentioned in the last edition of HHL News) to the conference participants.  There was ample opportunity to engage in many interesting conversations at our convention stand.  Of particular note, Swiss colleagues were extremely excited about the concept of the "Travel Guide" and now they also intend to initiate a publication concerning excellent service performance.
